I got a lot to talk about. I have a lot to say. Let's talk about one of my favorite topics and it's gratitude, I can talk about gratitude all day, I can talk about it all day but sometimes, we may come from a position of not thinking about gratitude or not focusing on the good things that we already have and how many people don't know what to be grateful for, because you just think that it's just something that you're supposed to have or something that just happens.
Marou, she talks about things that come out of the blue, blessings that come out of the blue, but for me, a blessing is anything where you would say, “Oh, more, please!” You want more of that or even small more pleases. As an example, I woke up this morning-more, please. I want to have more mornings where I wake up. My legs are working and I'm able to take this walk - more please. Looking at amazing social media posts from Gahmya that inspire me to do more, be more and have more open conversations around diversity – more please. Kev on-stage, funniness - more, please. So anything that you want, more of more, please. You had the best sleep that you had in a long time – more please.
We get so caught up on these huge things that we can't focus on the small things. And if we can focus on the small things and you can receive the blessings of small things, then you will be gifted, granted, blessed with large things. Let's focus on gratitude. Let's focus on what we have. Let's focus on how we can do that and how do you do it? How can you bring this into your daily routine? How do you show gratitude without being overwhelming or scary or anything like that? For me, I am a Christian. I say God. So when I do my gratitude, I say thank you, God, for waking me up this morning. I say thank you for everything. There is nothing that I am not grateful for. Thank you that I was able to get on the phone and have this amazing conversation with my mom. Thank you that I was able to get clarity around this situation. Thank you for the people that are listening and walking with me and commenting and sharing or just digesting what I say. Thank you, God, for those people - that is gratitude. So this is how you can do and this is how I do it, because my attention span, it can be a little bit short sometimes, so I make a game out of all the things. When I wake up in the morning, before I jump out of the bed, I name or say three things that I'm grateful for, but this is the kicker. It can't be anything that I was already grateful for the day before. It has to be something new.
Start with one thing and do it now. You don’t have to wait until you wake up in the morning and go to sleep at night. Do it NOW. When you do this tomorrow or when you say something later, it has to be something new, something that you didn't say the day before. So what are you thankful for?
