Today's lesson in adaptability is about quiet time. I'm not going to be too bold and say meditation because that may be too much but are you taking time to get somewhere and be quiet? Give yourself the gift of a time out and I know even in this time of unrest and uncertainty, you still are busy. We still are doing lots of things. Gift yourself the gift of silence and you're like, “Oh, I'm so busy. How do I do this?” It can be as simple as before you go to bed, just be quiet. Even the time it takes to take that one breath is a time out and where can you say where did you get to take these breaths? Where can you get to chain more than one breath together? So is it when you're sitting on the side of the bed, when you're getting in the bed or out of the bed, taking off your house shoes, you sit and you take this breath. This is a time out, you're checking in on you. You're getting good oxygen and you're calming yourself down and giving yourself an opportunity to get these breaths.
My mom used to try and take these breaths when she went to the bathroom and I don't know what she was doing in there, but I felt like she was hiding. I know that I'm not creative in saying that that bathroom time is time out time, it's spa time, it’s grieving time, it's a long time or maybe it's not the bathroom or and it's the bathroom, but maybe it's that time in your car before you get ready to leave, before you put the car and drive, because when you first get in, you get in the car and you take your breath and before you get out of the car. Once you arrive to where you're going, you take your breath. Give yourself the gift of this time out and get to the point, set a goal of being able to chain more than one of these four count breaths in, hold it at the top. Four count breath out, hold it at the bottom and give yourself the gift of being able to chain these breathes together and just breathing and sitting in your silence. It's a gift, especially when there's always things going on - phones ringing, Zoom calls and accountability this and create that and receive this and read that and do this and cook this and give me that.
In the world of still even so much more responsibility, it is important to give yourself these moments of a time out and be able to just breathe and sit in your silence and sit in your abundance and sit in your greatness and take this as a moment to just focus and breathe and be able to move forward.
